Free pattern for crocheted baby vest (DIY)

This is a pattern for this vest that I made for my daughter a couple of months ago. It's approximately a size 6-9 months. Please do comment and share if you try the pattern yourself - or maybe have some suggestions for improvement :-)

You need:
Hook #11 (3 mm)
Yarn that goes with the hook size (I just used thin cotton yarn which looks and feels fine), about 150 g
3 buttons

Abbreviations:
st = stitch
ch = chain stitch
hdc = half double crochet
tog = together

ALL hdc is made in the back loop - if you need instructions watch this video

This is my very first DIY so the making of the vest might seem a little funny: It's made out of three parts, 2 front parts and 1 back part, because I intended to let it be open in the front but later on I changed my mind. Anyway, it ended up in three parts but to me the only downside about this is that it means more attachement-work in the end.
(At the moment I'm about to another vest in one piece - and with instructions for different sizes - so stay tuned!)

Front piece (make 2):
Chain 33 - and add 2 extra to turn. Every row from now on ends with 2 ch
1-6) 33 hdc in blo (as for the rest of the hdc)
7) 32 hdc + 3 hdc in the last st = 35
8) 2 hdc in first st + 34 hdc = 36
9) 35 hdc + 3 hdc in last st = 37
10) 37 hdc
11) 37 hdc + 42 ch = 79 (remeber 2 extra ch to turn with!)
12-14) 79 hdc
15) 28 hdc
16) 2 hdc tog + 26 hdc = 27
17) 25 hdc + 2 hdc tog = 26
18) 2 hdc tog + 24 hdc = 25
19-21) 25 hdc
Fasten off and leave enough yarn for attachement later on.

When you've made 2 front pieces put them together, row 1 against row 1, and crochet them together with sc

Back piece:
As with the front pieces remeber to add 2 ch in the end of every row and make all hdc in BLO.
Chain 25
1-3) 25 hdc
4) 24 hdc + 2 hdc in last st = 26
5) 3 hdc in first st + 25 hdc = 28
6) 27 hdc + 2 hdc in last st = 29
7) 3 hdc in first st + 28 hdc = 31
8) 31 hdc + 9 ch = 40
9-32) 40 hdc
33) 31 hdc
34) 3 hdc tog  + 28 hdc = 29
35) 27 hdc + 2 hdc tog = 28
36) 3 hdc tog + 25 hdc = 26
37) 24 hdc + 2 hdc tog = 25
38-39) 25 hdc

Sew or crochet the back piece together with the front piece and attach the buttons in front.

Voilà!
